Profile Building

Pre-Departure Briefing by APSA is a structured orientation and support program designed to equip students with knowledge, tools, and confidence before they leave for overseas studies. It covers everything from the documents you must have, travel logistics, health and safety, cultural adaptation, financial planning, what to expect academically, and how to settle in. It ensures that students are not only ready for academic life abroad, but also for daily life, emergencies, and culture shock.

How APSA Pre-Departure Briefing Works, Step by Step

Here’s what to expect when you enrol with APSA’s Pre-Departure Briefing service. Each step is designed to give you a full picture and support you proactively.

Invitation & Scheduling

Once your admission is confirmed (and often before visa or travel), APSA schedules a briefing session. It can be in-person or virtual, depending on the student’s location and circumstances.

Pre-Briefing Assessment

Do you have a valid passport and visa (or visa process started)?
Have you confirmed travel arrangements?
Health: vaccinations, insurance, prescription medicine, etc.

Comprehensive Briefing Session

Travel & Documentation: Passport, visa, flights, baggage, customs, immigration, international travel laws, Vaccinations, medical check-ups, prescription medicines, health insurance, emergencies.

Checklists & To-Do Guides

APSA gives students downloadable/printable materials — checklists for documents, packing list, pre-travel vaccinations or health procedures.

Interactive Q&A & Scenarios

The session includes time for questions. Also APSA may run scenario practice (e.g. what to do if you lose your passport, or if you fall sick abroad), so students are mentally prepared.

Follow-Up Support

After the briefing, APSA remains available to help: document reviews, visa queries, travel bookings, connecting with other students, reminding deadlines, etc.

Best Practices & Tips to Make the Briefing Most Effective

Attend the briefing well in advance — don’t wait till last minute.
Note and review checklists so you can tick off each item.
Collect all documents and keep physical + digital copies.
Keep communication open with APSA: ask questions whenever things are unclear.
Network with other students who are going to the same destination — peer experience can help.
Be mentally open: culture, norms, ways of study may be different—prepare to adapt rather than expect everything the same.
